Is there anything I could possibly say about
this that it doesn’t say for itself? These two make the Simpson girls seem like musical and spiritual giants. I don't want to fully blame them until they turn 18, so until then, join me if you will in despising their parents and everything they stand for. And perhaps throw in a few prayers for all of us if you're so inclined. I feel sick.

seems like a bit more than sixteen times f'd up to me. geez. man. wow.
i mean....wow. makes me just want to stay in and watch movies and baseball and not leave my house. that's just depressing.
I suppose that the only good thing is that reasonable people can see this for what it is.
I'd say that it is a form of child abuse, but don't parents have the right to teach their children unpopular ideas? We don't have to agree with them (and lord knows I disagree with them about as strongly as it is possible to do) but we do have to allow them to hold those opinions.
Here's a question: are these girls being exploited? More or less than the Simpson girls? (Ok, that's two questions.)
intolerance is one of the few things i simply can't tolerate.
Right on Hutch.
Do they have the right, Dean? I don't think anyone has the right to promote hate. I do believe they are being exploited way more than the Simpsons, both because the Simpsons are over 21 now and because of the nature of the exploitation, which is promoting something way worse than tuneless pop music.
These poor girls. Parents or managers are filling their heads, winding them up, and sending them into certain danger each time they play live.
Goddamn, that's just evil.
It really is evil and it freaks me out to think that these girls believe, hook, line and sinker--every little thing they are being spoon-fed. I grew up not far from Bakersfield (unfortunately--in a town called Visalia) and there are a ton of people who are these freak-conservatives who are way overboard when it comes to equality and what they believe. I never knew anyone quite like these girls though. It may be an area where conservative values are predominant, however I believe that there's a big difference between that and what these girls are spewing. I'm nauseous!

Of course, they'll deny that that is what they're doing. They'll say that all they're doing is promoting their white-ness. But that's to be expected.
I have to admit that I have mixed feelings on this. I don't think there's any question that they are promoting hate, and I find the position that they are espousing abhorrent. But at the same time, I worry about who gets to say that this is hate and something else isn't.

I've thought about it a bit, and I agree. There's something particularly vile about exploiting your children for political purposes. The thing is, though, those girls probably don't think of themselves as exploited.
All I can hope is that they'll wake up at some point.
I downloaded a sample of their video... They're awful. I don't think we really have to worry about them taking off...
I've been thinking about this, too, and after daniel's report about them being horrible, I'm just as upset...if not moreso...with ABC for giving this the publicity that they clearly want.
I used to work for a magazine as an editor, and I was the sole editor for the magazine's website. Somebody made a choice to post this and write the article as oppossed to writing about and posting something else.
The fact that they are talentless does come into play for me, because I think that puts ABC on the hook for promoting something purely to get the web hits. They know what will increase their traffic, and they've done it.
Terrible. That's not journalism. It's shameful. Look, if they had musical talent, there might be a story here. Wagner's operas, for instance, cannot be ignored, nor can Herbert Von Karijan's work, and there are antisemetic elements in their histories. But this is clearly something different. It's about web hits, which is it's own kind of sick.
Dean - I get to say it! And anyone else who wants to... because it's true! If they can spew that kind of bile, I can spew right back. This is the good and the bad of freedom of speech right here. Anyone who wants to point out any other kind of hate is also welcome to.
T - very, very good point. S. Points.
